Incorporating AI into Existing Workflows

By Peter Winkle, Vice President of Marketing

Over the past few years, we’ve seen AI explode in terms of its capabilities. Businesses are recognizing these advancements and finding ways to use the technology to streamline workflows, making processes much more efficient. A recent Deloitte study found that organizations that rated themselves as having “high” or “very high” levels of generative AI expertise reported much greater success in achieving their expected benefits. This emphasizes the importance of adopting AI technology. While this may sound overwhelming, you don’t have to completely restructure your workflows – there are strategies for incorporating AI into existing workflows.

Play with the possibilities

Before your organization starts implementing anything new, it’s important to get a feel for the technologies available. Ask your colleagues, as they already may be using AI tools that you are unaware of. AI is available for automation, analytics and cybersecurity, to name a few business areas. Take time to dive into the technology around you. Once you have a good understanding of what’s available, it’s time to see how the available applications could be helpful to your organization.

Identify inefficiencies

To determine what applications may benefit your company most, identify what current workflows are showcasing inefficiencies. There are a few processes that AI is easily integrated into, including managing and interpreting data, running hypothetical scenarios and evaluating possible outcomes, and streamlining customer service with AI chatbots.

Another way to identify what processes AI can help streamline is talking with employees from all departments. Your team may have a process that is used daily that could be more efficient by implementing technology. By starting this discussion with your team, you ensure their voices are being heard and AI will be used in a helpful way.

Map out success

Now that you’ve identified the available technology and where those AI applications would be most helpful for your organization, it’s time to map out the implementation process. Work with your colleagues to establish what type of training will be needed, how that training will be conducted and the timeline for implementation. Mapping out this process provides a clear roadmap for all teams involved and ensures employees remain efficient as they adapt to the new workflow.

The advancements we have seen with AI are only expected to grow, and it’s imperative for businesses to embrace this technology to remain efficient and competitive. Adoption of these new capabilities does not require a complete reset, but rather, with a strategic plan, AI can be integrated into existing workflows to identify and remove any inefficiencies.
