CNBC’s State of Freight: China’s COVID Surge and Its Effect on the Supply Chain

February 14, 2023 | By David Collier, Infinite Electronics Chief Operating Officer

As COO of Infinite Electronics, I oversee our global supply chain operations, managing an availability model to meet customers’ urgent needs by ensuring same-day shipping across the company’s growing family of brands. When supply chain disruptions occur, we monitor the situation and adjust accordingly to ensure we’re able to get our customers what they need, when they need it.

Right now, we’re paying close attention to what’s going on in China with the rise in COVID-19 cases stemming from the country’s elimination of its “Zero Covid” policies.

I recently sat down with Lori Ann LaRocco from CNBC’s State of Freight to discuss what we saw during the first surge in China and what we expect to see in the second wave once workers return to factories following the Lunar New Year. The good news is the first wave was swift but not long lasting, and we’re not expecting the second wave to be as extreme.

The situation in China raises other concerns, though – like whether companies are regularly evaluating their supply chain assurance plans and implementing changes to mitigate the effects of the disruptions.
